Life!

As you are living yours and I am living mine, it seems wise to share a bit of the goings on and some thoughts about them.

On the world front: continued prayers for peace, for the unending onslaught of natural disasters and for those suffering through displacement, hunger and death of loved ones.

On the national front: continued prayers that we might truly be one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.

Denver Seminary

I’m entering my last year as chair of the board and deeply grateful for the leadership of our new president, Dr. Mark Husbands. We celebrated 75 years of preparing men and women for ministry with over 500 in attendance in an amphitheater here in Denver. It was beautiful to join with past presidents and their families!

On the Personal Front

  • Grandboys are now 21, 11 and almost three – and a brand-new baby boy has just arrived!

  • Mia (our dog) is still spunky at 13.5!

  • My brother completed his first year of health with his new liver. We celebrated at The Sphere seeing The Wizard of Oz with our older brother. He’s doing great!

  • Evan joined the board of The MOMco Global. Sooooo full circle for our family’s investment in MOPS International. I could not be more thrilled!

  • Evan and I belatedly celebrated some BIG birthdays and a BIG wedding anniversary on our first vacation in five years. Enjoy my silly/true “Tale of Tina” in the blog at the end of this newsletter.

  • And there have been deaths and illnesses and losses and fears and scary concerns – of course. This is LIFE. I remain convinced of God’s no-matter-what faithfulness. He never sleeps nor slumbers. He holds us in his hands. He calls us by name. He is able and he will do it.

The Tale of Tina

By Elisa Morgan

She was presented to us with a fancy dinner drink in the French-Canadian city of Montreal. We’d been on vacation for just twelve hours when she joined our party and introduced herself. Pink through and through, a one-legged wonder with a beautifully curved neck, Tina suddenly appeared in our midst and we welcomed her with delight.

Okay – so she was a scarlet-hued flamingo-topped swivel stick, stuck through a cherry and orange and poking out of my husband’s highball. But something about her declared “Vacation Time!” so I tucked her in my purse, christened her Tina (who knows why really) and off she came on our adventures.

Note some of the delights Tina took in along the way!

Tina in Montreal - St. Mary's Basilica and Queen Victoria.

Tina enjoying shipboard activities!

Tina with Anne of Green Gables on Prince Edward Island, and meeting the goats in Saguenay, Nova Scotia.

Tina queuing up to order her first "lobsta" roll in Portland, Maine, and getting her groove on at the silent disco.

The wonderful staff also enjoyed Tina. Sonnyboy (lower 2 pictures) was her favorite. Love at first sight! When Tina got lost, I presented a Tina substitute (made from a bamboo stir stick and orchid blossom) to a heartbroken Sonnyboy.

Silly? Maybe. But I can’t tell you how much FUN Tina brought us on our trip! Well, actually I can! She delighted staff and cruisers (Sonnyboy actually longed to marry her) but most of all me and Evan. She brought a childlike discovery to every port and every day at sea, beckoning us to notice and enjoy.

Alas, somewhere near the end of our last port in Newport, Rhode Island, Tina went amiss. Did she jump overboard? Perhaps. More likely she popped out of my purse pocket to the floor of our excursion bus.

I wonder who will discover her and her charms next? Lucky person.

Tina taught me to play again. To watch and notice and learn and enjoy.

Keep an eye out for her? She just may be waiting to introduce herself to you!

In Loving Memory: Tina. 10/6/25-10/10/25
