Why Sharing Matters
By Robyn Dykstra
When we hear the word testimony, most of us think BIG.
Drug addiction.
Miraculous healing.
Near-death experiences.
Prodigals coming home.
Marriage restoration.
And yes — those stories matter deeply.
But sometimes I think we accidentally convince ourselves that if our testimony isn’t dramatic, it isn’t worth sharing.
Meanwhile, all day long, God is quietly revealing his kindness, provision, favor, protection, comfort, and presence … and we miss the opportunity to talk about him because the story feels “too small.”
Friend, there are no small testimonies when they point to a big God.
Psalm 105:1 says: Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
Not just the earth-shattering miracles. ALL he has done.
Sometimes sharing your faith looks less like standing behind a pulpit…and more like sitting across the table saying: “I asked the Lord to help me with that difficult conversation, and he gave me the exact words …”
Simple? Yes.
But those conversations do something important: They train our hearts to notice God.
I think part of our spiritual growth process is learning to recognize the hand of God not only in the monumental moments … but in the everyday ones too.
Sharing everyday Jesus stories (testimonies) helps us remember what God has done.
In 1 Samuel 17:37 King David says, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
David remembered. Every previous rescue built confidence for the next battle.
And honestly? Most of us need that reminder.
Because life is hard.
People disappoint us.
Prayers seem delayed.
Fear gets loud.
But when we start recounting the goodness of God — even in small things — our faith gets stronger.
Sharing everyday Jesus stories (testimonies) emboldens others to trust him too.
When you tell a friend, “Girl, I was anxious all night, but I prayed and God gave me such peace …” you’re reminding her that prayer changes things.
When you say, “I didn’t know how we were going to pay that bill, and then an unexpected refund showed up …” you’re reminding her that God still provides.
When you share, “I asked the Lord to help me with that difficult conversation, and he gave me the exact words …” you’re reminding her that God still guides his daughters.
Your testimony may seem ordinary to you because you lived it.But to someone else? It’s hope.
Hebrews 10:24 says, “Let us consider how we may spur one another on …”
One simple story can strengthen someone’s faith more than you realize.
Sharing everyday Jesus stories (testimonies) glorifies God.
Psalm 66:16 says, “Come and hear… let me tell you what he has done for me.”
Friend, God deserves credit for his goodness. Not because he needs attention — but because people need reminding that he is near. Every time we openly acknowledge his faithfulness, provision, comfort, favor, guidance, or peace, we shine a light on his character. And in a world full of bad news, fear, cynicism, and complaining…women who notice the goodness of God stand out.
So start talking about him more. Not in weird, forced ways. Not like a sermon. Just naturally. Warmly. Conversationally.
Tell your kids.
Tell your girlfriends.
Tell your Bible study group.
Tell the cashier if the moment opens naturally.
Talk about what God has done recently. Because the more we tell our everyday Jesus stories, the more we’ll recognize his hand everywhere.
